Online classes and events, built into Labbaik.
Run madrasah lessons, adult classes, talks and community events as private video calls, started in one tap. People join from their portal, attendance is marked as they arrive, and you pay 0.35p per person, per minute. No subscription, and no separate video account.
One tap to start. One tap to join.
Start a class or event from Labbaik. The people in it get a join button in their portal, on any phone, tablet or computer, and they're marked present the moment they join.
No meeting links to send, no app to download and no separate video account to manage.
The register fills itself.
In an online class there’s no register to take. Every student who joins the call is marked present automatically, so the teacher can simply start teaching.
Running a hybrid class? The teacher taps present for the students in the room, on the same register, and nobody is marked twice.
The call goes where you go.
The call keeps running while you move around Labbaik. Shrink it to a small window you can drag anywhere, check a record, a booking or a message, then bring it back. It never drops or reloads.
On a phone the call opens full screen and minimises to a small window in the same way.
Only the right people get in.
Every room is private. People join through their own Labbaik login, so only those who belong in the session, and your admins, can get in. A forwarded link on its own lets nobody in.
Students can join a class only once the teacher has started it, so nobody runs up minutes in an empty room. If someone opens a second tab, the older one closes and their time counts once.
Record the class, keep it in your Drive.
Teachers can record a class with one tap. The recording goes straight into your own Google Drive or Dropbox, connected securely with OAuth, and Labbaik never keeps a copy. The teacher watches it back, then publishes it to the student portal.
Recording is optional and off until your organisation opts in. It costs 2p per recorded minute, however many people are in the call, and students are told when a class is being recorded so they can turn their camera off.
0.35p per person, per minute.
So an hour-long class or talk costs 21p per person (60 minutes × 0.35p). Labbaik counts each person’s time in the call to the second and bills it monthly, by card or Direct Debit, separately from your Labbaik plan.
Recording is optional, at 2p per recorded minute. If a month comes to less than £2, nothing is taken and the balance rolls into the next bill.
Start with 2,500 free minutes.
Every organisation gets 2,500 free person-minutes, about two hour-long classes with a teacher and 20 students. An admin switches it on under Connected apps in Labbaik, and you add a card or Direct Debit only when you’re ready to carry on.
If the minutes run out during a session, it finishes free. Add a card early and any trial minutes you have left stay free.
A monthly limit you set.
Choose how much Labbaik Live can spend in a month, and admins get an email as you reach 75%, 90% and 100% of it. New organisations start at £25.
Once the limit is reached, new sessions can’t start until an admin raises it. A session that’s already running always finishes.
Live, whatever you’re running.
Madrasah lessons, adult classes, talks, community events and meetings run from the same timetable, register, bookings and portal you already use. Already on Zoom? Connect it and Labbaik shares the right link instead.
Questions & answers
Labbaik Live, answered.
What is Labbaik Live?
Private video calls built into Labbaik, for madrasah lessons, adult classes, talks, community events and meetings. You start a session from Labbaik, the people booked onto it join from their portal, and attendance is marked as they join. There's nothing to install and no separate video account to manage.
How much does Labbaik Live cost?
0.35p per person, per minute, billed monthly. There's no subscription and no minimum spend, and it's billed separately from your Labbaik plan. An hour-long class with a teacher and 20 students comes to £4.41. Recording is optional, at 2p per recorded minute.
See Labbaik pricing →Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every organisation gets 2,500 free person-minutes to use within 30 days, with no card needed. That's about two hour-long classes with a teacher and 20 students. If the minutes run out during a session, that session finishes free.
How do we turn it on?
An admin turns it on in Labbaik under Connected apps → Labbaik Live, which starts the free trial. When you're ready to carry on, add a card or Direct Debit from the same place. Minutes left over from the trial stay free.
Can we control how much we spend?
Yes. Set a monthly limit of £10, £25, £50, £100, £250 or a custom amount; new organisations start at £25. Admins get an email at 75%, 90% and 100% of the limit. Once it's reached, new sessions can't start until an admin raises it, but a session that's already running always finishes.
Who can join?
Only the people who belong in that session, such as a class's students and its teachers, plus your admins. Every room is private and every join is checked against the person's Labbaik login, so a forwarded link on its own lets nobody in. Students can join a class only once the teacher has started it.
What if someone rejoins or opens a second tab?
Their time is only ever counted once. If the same person joins twice, the newest connection stays and the older one is closed, and someone who drops out and rejoins carries on as normal.
What happens if a month's bill is very small?
If a month comes to less than £2, nothing is taken and the balance rolls into the next bill. If you turn Labbaik Live off, the final bill is sent straight away.
Can we record classes?
Yes, if your organisation opts in. Teachers and admins can record a class, and the recording goes straight into your own Google Drive or Dropbox, connected securely by OAuth. Labbaik never keeps a copy. It arrives unpublished, so the teacher can watch it back before publishing it to the student portal. Students see a notice while a class is being recorded, so anyone who'd rather not appear can turn their camera off.
See online classes and recordings →How much do recordings cost?
2p per recorded minute, however many people are in the call, billed with the rest of your Labbaik Live usage. Recording is off until your organisation opts in, so nothing is charged unless you use it. An hour-long recording costs £1.20.
Can teachers share a PDF in a live class?
Yes. A teacher shares a kitab, worksheet or slides as a PDF (up to 50 MB) from the class, and every student reads their own sharp copy in their portal, on a phone, tablet or computer, with pinch to zoom. It works in Zoom classes too. The teacher chooses whether it stays in the portal after class and whether students can download it, and can share last week's PDF again without uploading it. Word files need saving as a PDF first.
We already use Zoom. Do we have to switch?
No. If your organisation has connected Zoom, your classes and events keep using it and Labbaik attaches the right meeting link to each one. Labbaik Live is there for organisations that would rather not run a separate video account.
Using Zoom with Labbaik →Do teachers still need to take the register?
Not in an online class: every student who joins the call is marked present automatically. In a hybrid class, the teacher marks the students in the room as usual, on the same register.
Read the guide to madrasah attendance →Which devices does it work on?
Phones, tablets and computers, in the browser. On a computer or tablet the call can sit in the page, shrink to a small window you can drag anywhere, or go full screen; on a phone it opens full screen.
