Qur’an CompanionText from Quran Foundation

Hifz practice at home, straight from homework.

Students open the exact passage their teacher set, hear it recited ayah by ayah, and watch every word light up as it’s read. Teachers set how many times to listen, track Sabaq, Sabaq Para and Dhor to the ayah, and see who practised. Free for every madrasah.

    From homework

The exact passage, one tap away.

    Listen and practiseListen 5 times

Every Hifz and Qur’an homework task has a Listen and practise button. It opens that Sabaq, Sabaq Para or Dhor at the right ayahs, set up the way the teacher asked, so families never have to hunt for the page.

Juz homework opens where the ticked quarters start, so “Juz 30, 3rd and 4th quarters” begins at Al-A’la. When the practice is done, the family can mark the homework as practised.

    Word by word

Every word lights up as it’s recited.

    Follow the reciterTap any word

As the reciter reads, each word is highlighted in time, so a student always knows exactly where they are. Stuck on one word? Tap it to hear it on its own, as many times as they need.

The Arabic is shown exactly as Quran Foundation sends it, word for word, in their own font. Nothing is retyped or rearranged.

    Practise mode

    Repeat, pause, recite it back.

    Repeats and pausesHide the text

Hear each ayah up to 10 times, then the whole passage up to 50, with a pause after each play for the student to recite it back. Hide the text to test memorisation, and tap a line to check it.

Settings are remembered on each device, and translations stay hidden while practising unless the student turns them on.

    Hifz tracking

Sabaq, Sabaq Para and Dhor, to the ayah.

    Every para memorisedPractise from progress

Teachers log Sabaq, Sabaq Para and Dhor by surah and ayah, or by juz and quarters, and tick off each para as it’s memorised. Parents see the same picture, with Practise Sabaq, Practise Sabaq Para and Practise Dhor opening exactly where the student is.

While logging progress, teachers can tap Listen to hear the range they’ve just entered, without leaving the form.

    Homework tracking

Set it, then see who practised.

Listen 2 to 50 timesPractice on every mark

Set Sabaq, Sabaq Para and Dhor in one homework, choose how many times to listen, and preview the passage before you send it. When you mark it, you see who opened it, who practised and how often, then mark each task Completed, Needs improvement or Repeat.

Marks and comments go straight back to the family, and a Repeat brings the same Sabaq back when you set the next homework.

    Script and reciters

IndoPak Nastaleeq by default, the script many madrasahs teach from, with Uthmani a tap away, each in Quran Foundation’s own font. Listen to Shaykh Al-Husary, his teaching recitation, or Mishary Al-Afasy, at the speed that suits.

    Questions & answers

    The Qur’an Companion, answered.

    What is the Qur'an Companion?

A Qur'an reader built into Labbaik's homework and progress. When a teacher sets Hifz or Qur'an homework, students and parents tap Listen and practise to open that exact passage, hear it recited ayah by ayah with each word highlighted, and practise it until it's ready for class.

Where does the Qur'an text come from?

The Arabic text, translations and recitations come from Quran Foundation, the team behind Quran.com, through their official API. Labbaik shows the text exactly as Quran Foundation sends it, in their own IndoPak and Uthmani fonts, and never edits it.

    How much does it cost?

Nothing. The Qur'an Companion is free for every organisation on Labbaik, for teachers, students and parents.

    See Labbaik pricing →

Which reciters and translations are there?

Shaykh Mahmoud Khalil Al-Husary, his teaching recitation (Al-Husary Muallim), and Mishary Al-Afasy. Translations include Saheeh International, Mufti Taqi Usmani, Abdel Haleem, and Urdu by Shaykh al-Hind and Jalandhari. Translations stay hidden in Practise mode unless the student turns them on.

Can teachers say how many times to listen?

Yes. On any Hifz or Qur'an homework task, the teacher can set Listen 2 to 50 times. The student's Practise opens with the whole passage repeated that many times, and the teacher sees how often each student practised when marking the homework.

Does practising mark the homework as done?

No. Practice never ticks anything by itself and never changes a student's progress. At the end of a session the family can tap Mark homework as Practised, and the teacher still hears the passage and marks it in class.

How does it work with Hifz tracking?

Teachers record Sabaq, Sabaq Para and Dhor as they always have, by surah and ayah or by juz and quarters. The student's progress page then offers Practise Sabaq, Practise Sabaq Para and Practise Dhor, opening at the exact ayahs recorded, or where the quarters start.

    See progress tracking →

    Which script does it use?

IndoPak Nastaleeq by default, the script many madrasahs teach from, with Uthmani a tap away. Each is drawn in Quran Foundation's own font for that script, including the verse-end markers.

Do students need to download an app?

No. It works in the browser on any phone, tablet or computer, from the same student portal families already use for attendance and progress, and the portal can be added to the home screen like an app.

    See the student portal →

    Who can use it?

Students on Qur'an or Hifz classes and their parents, from the portal, and every teacher and admin, from their own view. The Qur'an tab appears in the portal for students on Qur'an or Hifz, and every Hifz and Qur'an homework task has its own Listen and practise button.
